A legal disclaimer
Effective date: July 12, 2025
By accessing and using this website, litclubs.org, including any member areas, groups, or forums associated with LIT, you agree to the following terms and conditions. These terms are intended to protect our members, particularly younger participants, while supporting a safe, creative, and educational community. If you do not agree with any part of this disclaimer, please do not use this platform.

This platform is designed to be a supportive space for writers of all ages, particularly teens, to share their creativity, engage in discussion, and grow their skills. All users are expected to conduct themselves with kindness, respect, and maturity. Any content that includes harassment, hate speech, explicit material, discriminatory language, or bullying will be removed. We reserve the right to suspend or permanently remove accounts that violate these community standards.

All materials, prompts, and discussions on this platform are for educational and informational purposes only. The content shared by LIT and its members is not professional legal, medical, financial, or psychological advice, and should not be treated as such. Users are encouraged to seek appropriate professional guidance for personal matters outside the scope of creative writing and discussion.
Participation by users under the age of 18 is allowed with the understanding that parental or guardian consent is either granted explicitly or implied through continued use. LIT does not knowingly collect sensitive personal information from minors and recommends that parents supervise their child's participation. We take the safety of our younger members seriously and will remove any content or user who threatens that safety.

All creative works, posts, or submissions shared by users — including written stories, poetry, or responses to prompts — remain the intellectual property of the original creator. By submitting your work to LIT, you affirm that you are the rightful owner or have permission to post the content. You grant LIT a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display and share your content within the platform for community engagement purposes. Additionally, LIT may use short quotes, screenshots, or excerpts of member content across its official website and social media platforms for the purpose of highlighting creativity, promoting the community, or celebrating member contributions — always with visible credit to the original writer. If you prefer not to have your work shared publicly, you may request removal or opt-out at any time by contacting site administration.

To help protect the privacy of all members, we strongly discourage sharing personal identifying information such as phone numbers, home addresses, or school names. Members are encouraged to use a display name or username. While LIT takes reasonable steps to ensure a safe and secure environment, users understand that participation is at their own risk, and LIT is not responsible for any consequences resulting from voluntary disclosure of personal information.

To the fullest extent allowed by law, LIT is not liable for any damages or losses resulting from the use or inability to use the Site, including member interactions or the use of member-submitted content. By using this platform, you accept responsibility for your own safety and behavior.

LIT reserves the right to update this disclaimer and its terms of service at any time. Changes will be posted to this page, and continued use of the Site after any updates constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
Terms & Conditions
Effective Date: July 12, 2025
LIT is a creative community built to uplift, support, and challenge writers of all ages and backgrounds. By joining this platform, you agree to participate with respect, integrity, and a commitment to fostering a safe space for growth. The following expectations apply to all members, regardless of age, role, or experience level.

First and foremost, LIT is not a space for ideological debates or personal agendas. While we believe in the power of storytelling to explore ideas, this platform is not intended for the discussion, promotion, or criticism of personal beliefs, political ideologies, or religious doctrines. You may come across work that expresses views you disagree with. That is okay. Our goal is to cultivate the ability to engage with diverse voices by separating the quality of writing from the perspective being shared. In other words, you can dislike the message of a piece while still offering appreciation or constructive feedback on its craft. Personal disagreement with content does not justify hostility or bias in critique.

Feedback should always be kind, specific, and focused on the writing — not the writer. All members are expected to provide critique that is thoughtful and professional, helping one another improve in tone, structure, grammar, pacing, and creativity. Feedback filled with sarcasm, belittling comments, or veiled insults will not be tolerated. Sharing work is a vulnerable act, and our community culture demands grace in return. Likewise, all members are encouraged to receive critique with openness and humility, recognizing that growth comes from being challenged respectfully.

Harassment, bullying, or discriminatory language of any kind is strictly prohibited. This includes but is not limited to comments or behavior targeting a person’s race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or background. Inappropriate language — especially of a sexual nature — will result in immediate removal, particularly when minors are present or involved. LIT is a mixed-age space, and all members are expected to behave in a manner that is appropriate for younger audiences.
Plagiarism is taken very seriously. All work submitted on LIT must be your original creation, unless you are clearly sharing work with credited collaboration or under legal permission. This includes not only direct copying, but paraphrasing without citation or claiming ideas that are not your own. Any verified instance of plagiarism will result in the permanent suspension of your account and removal from the platform.

Each member is responsible for maintaining honesty and accountability in their participation. This means giving credit where it is due, being truthful about the origin of your work, and handling disagreements or critique in a mature and constructive manner. If something on the platform feels unsafe or inappropriate, we ask that you report it immediately to the site administrator or staff. Reports will be taken seriously and handled confidentially.

Above all, LIT is meant to be a place where writers feel inspired, challenged, and seen. Whether you're here to write, to read, or to learn — your voice matters. We ask that every member help build a culture that honors creativity, protects vulnerability, and encourages writers to grow without fear of rejection or ridicule. By participating in LIT, you agree to uphold these values.

privacy policy
Effective Date: July 12, 2025
At LIT, your creativity and privacy are equally important to us. When you create an account, we only ask for the essentials — like your display name, email address, and whatever you choose to share in your member profile or creative submissions. We do not request phone numbers, physical addresses, or payment information unless you choose to provide that later on for optional features such as paid upgrades or donations.

If you are under the age of 18, we ask that you have permission from a parent or guardian before joining LIT. We’re committed to maintaining a safe space for teen writers and encourage the use of a display name rather than your full legal name to help protect your identity. Parents are always welcome to reach out with questions or concerns about their child’s involvement in the community.
LIT will never sell or rent your personal information to outside companies or advertisers. Your data is used solely for helping you participate in our member features — such as joining groups, commenting, and accessing writing prompts. We do not allow outside messaging, promotions, or data sharing without your knowledge and consent.

We may occasionally highlight your work — such as posting a short quote, excerpt, or screenshot from a writing submission — on LIT’s social media or newsletter. If we do, we will always give credit to you as the original writer. You are free to ask us not to share your work publicly, and we will respect your request without question.
To protect your safety, we use trusted tools and standard security measures. However, no platform can guarantee 100% security, which is why we strongly encourage all members — especially younger ones — to avoid posting private information such as addresses, phone numbers, or school names. If you ever see or experience anything that feels unsafe or inappropriate, please report it immediately. We will take your concerns seriously and keep all reports confidential.

You have full control over your information at LIT. If you want to update or delete your account, just email us and we’ll take care of it quickly and respectfully. We believe that trust is built through transparency, and we’re here to support you every step of the way.

If you have any questions about your privacy or how your information is used, please don’t hesitate to contact us at: litconnect25@gmail.com
